I lost my refund check. How do I get a new one?

If you lost your refund check, you need to initiate a refund trace. Here are the steps you should follow:

1. Initiate a Refund Trace:
   • Use the "Where's My Refund" tool on the IRS website.
   • Call the IRS toll-free at 1-800-829-1954 and use the automated system.
   • Speak with an agent by calling 1-800-829-1040.
2. Form 3911:
   • Download and complete Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.
   • Alternatively, you can request the IRS to send you Form 3911 to start the replacement process.
3. Processing of Your Claim:
   • If the check wasn't cashed, you will receive a replacement check once the original check is canceled.
